This is a beautiful 1930's enamel & chrome compact. It has a wonderful enameled Art Deco design done with a beautiful red and yellow enameling of what looks to be the Trylon and Perisphere of the 1939 NY Worlds Fair design. So pretty! After examining this case and looking up the manufacturer, Elginite, E.A.M, which is embossed on the back of the case, I believe this compact was created as a souvenir for the 1939 NY Worlds Fair. The enamel design depicting the Trylon and Perisphere brings me to this very possible conclusion.
The closer and hinge is in perfect working order and the enamel is all intact except for a few small enamel paint loss on the yellow. (please see pics). I do believe this can be repaired in which case I will leave that to the purchaser. Other than that, the design in in very good to excellent condition. The chain is also in excellent condition. The compact itself is overall very very clean and very lovingly taken care of. The inside is in overall good vintage condition. The mirror perfect, powder container and powder puff all intact, rouge container all intact but is missing the rouge puff and is also missing the lipstick case. Other than these very few imperfections I feel this case for it's age and it's history is in wonderful condition and for those who like to hunt, the lipstick container can be found and replaced.
This case makes a wonderful addition to that 1939 NY Worlds Fair collection.
The outside of the compact is in excellent condition except for the few minor enamel paint loss.
The clasp is in excellent working order.
All is original including the chain.

3" long x 2.25" wide
